ALL YEAR ROUND

Calm and Quiet Swim

If you find the general sessions overwhelming or want a calm swim or are pregnant or have a SEND please come along to this reduced capacity session (max 50 swimmers).

All ages are welcome but we would ask you to respect the needs of your fellow swimmers for calm and quiet - eg no splashing, shouting or throwing beach balls.

There will be one lane in for relaxed lane swimming.

SEN Splash

Join us for a specially designed swimming session for children and adults with special educational needs, including autism. Our pool provides a calm, welcoming environment to ensure everyone feels safe and supported.

What to Expect:

Sensory-friendly environment; Warm water; Supportive and compassionate staff; Accessible changing facilities; Fun, relaxed atmosphere for all abilities

No public announcements on the PA system (except in an emergency); No music; No lifeguard whistles (except in an emergency)

Lower capacity, so fewer swimmers in the pool.

Babes and Toddlers

On warm days we will run morning and lunchtime sessions in the toddler pool when there is a lane session, for under-3s and their carers. As the numbers will be small to avoid overcrowding the toddler pool, it will be important to book in advance to avoid disappointment. The £5.50 ticket will include 1 carer per child under 3. Each child under 3 goes free(accompanied by 1 carer per child). The baby pool is not lifeguarded so you will need to accompany your child at all times. Swim nappies must be worn by children not toilet trained (available to purchase on site). Other adults (ie parent, grandparent) may attend as spectators by booking a spectator ticket or paying the spectator price at the door.

Full Moon Swims

The enchanting Full Moon Swims at Portishead Open Air Pool have become a magical tradition, drawing night swimmers from across the Bristol region.

As dusk settles and the moon rises over the Severn Estuary, the historic Art Deco lido transforms into a mystical setting, with the heated waters illuminated by underwater lights creating a mesmerizing glow.

Swimmers gather on these special evenings to experience the unique sensation of gliding through warm waters under the moonlit sky.

These events, which regularly sell out within hours of release, offer a rare opportunity to swim in the dark while being safely supervised by the pool's dedicated team.

Next moon swim 26th September, booking opens a week before!

Triathlons

The historic Portishead Open Air Pool has become a vibrant hub for triathlon training and events through its successful partnership with PACTri (Portishead and Clevedon Triathlon Club). Despite the pool's naturally chilly temperatures during winter months, dedicated triathletes can be seen braving the waters year-round, with PACTri organising events that transition from the grade II listed lido to the scenic coastal path.

These events have grown increasingly popular among both seasoned triathletes and newcomers to the sport, particularly during summer months when the heated waters and Art Deco surroundings provide a stunning backdrop for competitors. To join them check out their website https://www.pac-tri.com/.

The collaboration has helped revitalise the lido while establishing Portishead as a key training ground for the region's growing triathlon community.

Outdoor Cinema

Portishead Open Air Pool transforms into one of the region's most unique cinema venues, where moviegoers can experience films under the stars in a stunning Art Deco setting.

The pool area becomes an atmospheric outdoor theatre, with the large screen set across the pool.

This year we screened the box office hit ‘Song Sung Blue’ (12A) starring Hugh Jackson and Kate Hudson.
