Lemon Drizzle beats the drizzle at Macmillan Coffee Morning

This year’s Macmillan Coffee Morning dawned to grey skies and drizzle but we pool volunteers and the local community refused to let the rain put us off.   We came determined to have a good time, enjoy a swim and a chat over coffee and cakes with friends – and while we were at it we donated £887 for Macmillan, a  charity which provides medical, emotional, practical and financial support for people facing cancer and their families, as well as campaigning for better cancer care.

We closed for the season on Sunday 18 September but we opened specially on the Monday from 7am to midday for the Coffee Morning  and a last chance to swim in the heated pool.  This is the third year that pool volunteers have hosted the event as part of the Biggest Coffee Morning in the World and so far we have raised over £35,000.  As well as coffee and cake, there were also stalls for plants, preserves, books and cards and a grand raffle with prizes donated by local business as well as volunteers and other well wishers.  As well as those we thanked in person, we would also like to thank:
