Other than lifeguarding, the pool’s operation is almost totally dependent on volunteers. The main duties are reception, working in our new Community Café Lido, and helping out in the tuck shop.  Without enough volunteers on duty we might have to reduce our opening hours.

Winter maintenance:

20130213_094125In the closed season from late September to late April we need our volunteers just as much for maintenance tasks from cleaning and painting to more skilled tasks. If you have building and maintenance skills such as plumbing, electrical and carpentry or even if you can wield a paintbrush or mop, and can spare a few hours a week you would be most welcome to join our team. We usually meet on Wednesday mornings at the Pool and at other times as required, so please drop in and see how you can help, or ring Ann on 0781 309 5126.

Summer Volunteering for Reception and Tuckshop duties:

IMG_9961If you enjoy using the pool, and would like to help keep this wonderful facility going, please sign up for a shift.  In Reception you will be welcoming our visitors, operating the till and dealing with enquiries.  In the Tuck Shop you will be serving sweets and ice creams, soft drinks and hot drinks and other swimmers’ requirements.  It’s a great way to interact with our visitors and you can’t beat the atmosphere on a sunny day when everyone is having a great time.  For current volunteers, you can contact Ann or  book your shifts direct on www.supersaas.co.uk/schedule/Portishead_Open_Air_Pool/Pool_Reception_and_Tuck_Shop

Café Lido (year round):

cafe_lido11In a new venture, started in spring 2016, we have taken over the running of the adjoining café premises as a community café with great success.  However, coping with the demands of a busy summer season requires a lot of volunteers and we are also planning to open part time in the winter and for occasional evening functions with bar work,  so we are always looking for more enthusiastic helpers to sign on for shifts (2.5 hours) throughout the year.  If you fancy joining our friendly team you will be able to hone your barista skills or if you prefer you can serve at the counter, do the washing up or a bit of everything.    No experience is needed as full training will be given.  For current volunteers, you can book your shifts by contacting Lynda or online at http://www.supersaas.co.uk/schedule/Portishead_Open_Air_Pool/Cafe_Volunteers

If you enjoy using the pool, and would like to help keep this wonderful facility going, please sign up for a slot. Although signing up for a regular slot is great, we also appreciate than not everyone is able to do this, so helping out now and again is also really valuable – especially over half-term and the school holidays, and at weekends.
