Brian Hunt

I retired to Portishead in 2010, after living in many places due to my career. As a family we have always subscribed to serving the community wherever we have lived through volunteering.  Over the years I have been a school Governor, restored canals, run youth clubs, served on boards and trusts and supported and worked on wild life conservation projects.

I worked in Bristol from 1968 to 1974 and have happy memories during that time of bringing the children to the open air pool. Consequently when we came to Portishead and found that the pool was now a community trust I signed up to be a volunteer and subsequently a Trustee.

I have been married for 47 years and blessed with 3 children and 7 grandchildren.

I have the official role of finance director.
I moved to Portishead with my wife six years ago and immediately got involved with the pool, initially as just a swimmer and then in the campaign to save the pool.
We had lived in Australia for six years, and finding an open air pool in Portishead was one of the main reasons we chose to live here. Somehow, I manage to juggle work, triathlon training, family and the demands of running the pool finances, and find it extremely rewarding to be involved in this community enterprise.
My hope is that the pool becomes a place where swimmers, volunteers, staff, sports teams and the wider community see it as a place of their own.
